Always know the accepted payment methods

When dropping something off for services that will be paid for at the time of pick up, it is a good idea to know what payment methods the store will accept.
I dropped off a bridesmaid dress 2 weeks ago for a few minor alterations.  They said it would be ready today, after 3.  So I went to pick it up today, gave the girl my claim ticket, and as she was getting the dress, noticed that they only take cash or check.  I had neither with me-the $3 I had wasn't going to cover it.  So I told her that I had to run to the bank.  I ended up going home to get the checkbook, since both were about the same distance away.  Came back, paid with my check, and all is well.
The moral of my story is to ask about payment methods when I drop something off-course if I go to Stitchs again, I will know they only take cash or check.   Also, when in doubt, don't leave home without the check book.  (Luckily gas it not overly expensive and Stitchs is close to home!!)
Hopefully someone out there will have learned from my mistake.  If I can save one person from the embarrassment that I had this afternoon, it will have been worth it!! :)

Wow...there's a place that still takes checks in this world!?! That isn't a credit card company for payment?!!?

Huh....

And alteration businesses usually take the plastic...unless they're smaller and owned privately and only employ a few.

Anyway...I don't think I even know where my check book is....can't remember the last check I wrote....
